Spring awakening in Locarno
Visit the city of flowers!
Locarno is a real eye-catcher in April.
April is the month of blossoms, like beautiful magnolias, almond trees … and camellias! The traditional camellia festival in March continues with the camellia concerts, which take place until mid-April and pay tribute to the lovely camellias that are blooming in all their vibrant colours at this time. There’s a good reason why Locarno is called the “city of flowers”, as it’s currently covered in a sea of blossoms everywhere from the lakeside promenade to the parks. With 2,300 hours of sunshine a year, Locarno is one of the sunniest and warmest cities in Switzerland. The climate creates the perfect conditions for beautiful, diverse flora – and for especially lovely spring walks. Thanks to their wealth of colourful, sweet-scented flowers, the Brissago Islands are another popular day-trip destination at this time of year. Vibrant blooms and splendid palm trees with snow-capped mountains in the background: We can’t imagine a more wonderful view!
